Library reading rooms and shared study environments require strict noise management to support simultaneous focused reading and collaborative group discussions. High exposed ceilings, hard floor surfaces, and glass partition walls easily reflect speech signals, creating distracting sound escalation and reverberation across open study pods and adjacent meeting areas.

Engineered Solution & Design

To deliver effective overhead sound absorption while creating clear visual functional zones, the facility features a 9mm modular suspended PET fiber ceiling system. Over the main workstation clusters, light grey 3D vertical fluted acoustic baffles are arrayed directly above the reading tables to capture rising vocal reflections. Complementing the system, the adjoining group discussion area incorporates circular acoustic halo pendants in contrasting dark grey, orange, and light grey finishes, integrating functional illumination with sound attenuation to define micro-learning zones seamlessly.

Engineered from 9mm high-density 100% recyclable PET polyester felt, the modular ceiling tiles offer lightweight structural stability and an NRC rating of up to 0.75 for targeted mid-to-high frequency noise reduction. Certified to ASTM E84 Class A fire-retardant standards and ultra-low VOC indoor air quality criteria, the non-toxic, eco-friendly system ensures a safe, sustainable, and acoustically optimized environment for academic institutions and modern libraries.
