Fabric & Acrylic Acoustic Screen for Bank Teller Stations - Speech Privacy & Safety Guard

Project Context & Acoustic Challenge
Shared desk setups and open-plan workstations often create localized acoustic reflections right above the desktop work surface, where immediate voice soundwaves bounce between facing colleagues. Smooth, planar modesty screens lack the structural surface variation required to break up mid-to-high frequency vocal frequencies, resulting in degraded acoustic privacy and continuous ambient chatter within open office environments.
Engineered Solution & Design
To establish a mid-height privacy barrier and attenuate desktop reflection, the workstation was outfitted with an olive-green, thermoformed PET acoustic desk divider. Featuring a matrix of heat-pressed tufted dimples, the padded geometric texture effectively diffuses direct sound waves while providing a soft, tactile aesthetic. The rounded-corner panel is held rigid by twin powder-coated white aluminum desk-edge clamps, keeping the desktop uncluttered while providing instant tool-free mounting.
Performance & Compliance
Molded under high heat from dense PET polyester fibers, the tufted structural core achieves an NRC 0.85 noise reduction rating while resisting structural sagging or deformation. The seamless perimeter edge sealing eliminates fiber shedding along high-contact zones. Meeting ASTM E84 Class A fire-safety and low-VOC indoor air standards, the low-profile white metal clamps feature non-marring rubber gaskets to grip desk edges (15–30mm thickness) without damaging laminate finishes or surface coatings.
