Back-to-back benching systems in modern collaborative environments frequently suffer from acoustic spillover and direct line-of-sight distractions across shared work surfaces. Smooth, non-porous table finishes allow keyboard clicks and voice reflections to travel freely between paired users, creating an unrestrained sound path that degrades speech privacy and disrupts individual focus.

Engineered Solution & Design

To establish a clear visual boundary and dampen surface-level acoustic bounce, the shared workstation was specified with a dusty blue thermoformed PET desk divider. Featuring a precision grid of heat-pressed circular dimples, the recessed dimpled geometry diffuses incoming sound waves while adding an architectural 3D texture. The rounded-corner panel is supported by low-profile white metallic feet that sit flush on the desktop without intruding on adjacent wire-management cutouts or power grommets.

Performance & Compliance

Hot-molded from dense, flame-retardant (ASTM E84 Class A) PET polyester felt, the rigid dimpled core offers exceptional dimensional stability without warping or bowing. The thermoformed, sealed perimeter edge prevents fiber fraying from high-frequency forearm contact. Delivering an NRC 0.85 sound absorption rating and certified for low-VOC indoor air quality, the non-shedding felt surface easily resists pilling and can be maintained via standard dry-wipe or vacuum cleaning.
